SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State University softball program will welcome the USSSA Florida Pride of the National Pro Fastpitch League to Bobcat Softball Stadium on Oct. 27.

The contest between the Bobcats and Pride will be free and open to fans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and can also be viewed live on txstatebobcats.com/watch.

The exhibition will mark the return of former Bobcat assistant coach Kelly Kretschman. Kretschman, who served on coach Ricci Woodard's staff in 2015 and 2016, was the NPF's 2016 Player of the Year. Moreover, Kretschman was also named the league's offensive player of the year as she led the circuit in home runs on her way to winning the triple crown.

In addition to Kretschman, the Pride's roster is also expected to have 2016 USA Softball Player of the Year Sierra Romero, 2013 Offensive Player of the Year GiOnna DiSalvatore, 2016 All-NPF pitcher Jolene Henderson and former WCWS Most Outstanding Pitcher Hannah Rogers.

The Pride finished the 2016 NPF season with a 40-14 record and earned the top seed for the league's annual championship series for the third consecutive year and fifth time in the last seven seasons. The Pride will be on the second leg of their fall tour series which began in September in the northeast, before moving to the south for the month of October.

Texas State is coming off a historic 2016 season, that featured 40-22 overall record and a berth to the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional.  The Bobcats went 15-9 in Sun Belt Conference play last season and finished as the runner-up at the league tournament.
